The Cornell University AI for Science Institute (CUAISci) is part of the Radical Collaborations Initiative on AI. One of the initiative’s core AI application impact areas is scientific discovery, and sustainability is also an overarching goal.
Research Themes

Focused on AI for scientific discovery, CUAISci is organized around broad research themes, initially including these:
- AI for materials discovery
- AI for physics
- AI for the biological sciences
- AI for the sustainability sciences
Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
A major component of CUAISci is the Cornell Schmidt Futures AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, which will support about 20 postdoctoral fellows annually. Cornell is one of the initial nine universities participating in the Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship, a program of Schmidt Futures.
